James Wusterbarth, currently residing in Abu Dhabi as an independent contractor, has cultivated a rich tapestry of skills and experiences throughout his career. His journey has taken him from the U.S. Naval Officer ranks to international contracting with non-governmental organizations while maintaining a relentless commitment to learning and service. Born in Heidelberg, Germany, he began his impressive career trajectory in Washington D.C. during the 1990s, working at the Center for Counterterrorism Studies. He subsequently earned his commission as a U.S. Naval Officer, showcasing his dedication and resilience early on. During his military service, he was the only officer in his class at Basic Underwater Demolition SEAL Training to successfully complete Hellweek without losing a single member of his boat crew. Through seven months of training, James never backed down and never quit, a testament to his mental and physical fortitude and grit. Despite not being selected for the Naval Special Warfare Community as he had planned, his leadership and tenacity did not go unnoticed. The Navy presented him with the rare opportunity to undergo pilot training in the Naval Aviation Community. James was deployed all across the Mediterranean and took part in both Operation Allied Force and Operation Enduring Freedom. His service in the Navy was characterized by commendations from superiors and colleagues alike, a testament to his exemplary leadership and dedication as an officer.

His passion for learning and self-improvement is evident beyond the military in his extensive certifications and licenses, spanning aviation, maritime, and emergency response. He holds multiple FAA Pilot Licenses, a DOT Merchant Mariner Master Captain's License, various boating instructor licenses, and a PADI Master Diver certification. His emergency response experience exceeds 35 years and includes positions such as: Federal Law Enforcement Ranger, Ocean Lifeguard Instructor, National Registry Certified EMT, Red Card Wildland Firefighter with a USPA Skydiving Certification, National Ski Patrol, and FEMA Search and Rescue Manager, showcasing his incredible versatility and commitment to emergency medical service and rescue in a myriad of environments.

His dedication to service was profoundly demonstrated in the immediate aftermath of 9/11 when he voluntarily drove through the night to Ground Zero to assist with the cleanup effort under hazardous conditions. This bravery is just one instance in a long history of voluntary service during disasters and emergencies worldwide. To date, he has worked in an impressive 34 countries and has travel experience in more than 50, using his skills and knowledge where they are most needed.

In the United States, James has been an active volunteer for numerous LGBTQ, Hospice, and women's charities, working on women's shelter fundraisers. His commitment to gender equality and community service was recognized when he was selected for a prestigious, but unexpected honor. He was the first and only male recipient of the 'Women at Ground Zero Scholarship’ award, reflecting his years of consistent efforts to create a more equitable and supportive society. His passion for teaching and advocacy led him to a two-year tenure at Johns Hopkins Medical School, followed by a five-year stint as the FOX5 On-Air Health, Fitness, and Nutrition Editor. His live broadcasts reached an audience of more than 200,000 viewers, further extending his impact.
